What Made Me Cry At 5:30 This Morning
One of my favorite bits on NPR is StoryCorps, a collection of real-life vignettes told by everyday Americans. Always compelling and often moving, today’s installment was no different. Which is how, as I was getting home from the gym today, I experienced a pre-sunrise driveway moment. I pulled into the garage, turned off the ignition and sat silently as Emily Wynns interviewed her 92-year old grandmother, Nora Percival about her writing, her life and her one true love.

It’s short and it’s so very worth it.
Isn’t that wonderful? This is one of my favorite pieces on NPR.
Two people in love is great.
Thanks for sharing, Aaryn.
Oh! I’ll check it out.
Wanna know what made ME cry at 5 AM this morning? The ME who has had a sick child and little sleep all week. My husband’s flippin’ cell phone going off. The cell phone he NEVER flippin’ remembers to turn off at night. I briefly considered dropping it from the balcony onto the windshield of his car. The only thing that stopped me was the thought of that showing up in his motion for full custody of the minor child.
Took me a while to get around to downloading Real Player for Mac.. But now tears are in my eyes too! Truthfully, I have been crying a lot lately but THIS is the GOOD kinda cry! Thanks for sharing it. NPR is my favorite and I am going get the podcasts of that show. I forgot how great it can be! I am usually listening to Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me, with my secret lovah Mo Rocca!
I interviewed my sister as part of the StoryCorps project when the mobile booth was in San Diego. It was an awesome experience, even if it never makes it to an NPR broadcast. StoryCorps and This I Beleive are my two favorite NPR programs
