For Reals?

The Steroid Report is what makes the top news story today?
JesusMarrryandJooooseph (to be said with an Irish accent). I’m ashamed I’m even linking to it.
What about the covered-up rape of a young woman, by Haliburton employees? Does this concern our I-have-health-care-for-the-rest-of-my-life congressional representatives at all? Anyone clocking in at the Justice Department today? No? This isn’t an issue of magnitude requiring attention?
Well then: How about the fact that my KID WON’T SLEEP?
That’s way more worthy of congressional attention than stoopid fucking baseball.
Put an asterisk on that, Major Leage Baseball!

Hey Aaryn, I’ve been reading your blog and loving your flickr account for a while now. For some reason I was reminded of the therapy post you wrote a little while ago. I’m just wondering if you’ve chosen to see someone new? And if so, how that’s going.
Also, this is the first I’ve heard of the rape story - how sad is that?

    Hey Amaya.
Thanks for reading and for the compliments! As to the therapy post, I never did seek out another counselor and have been flying without a net. Things are good. I sort of feel like most therapists aren’t worth the money you pay to talk to them(sorry if any of you reading this are therapists). My old therapist sort of broke the mold and fortunately for me, I’ve been able to figure some stuff out on my own. Of course, I know when to ask for help during dark times and am not to proud to do so.

As for the rape story, isn’t it awful? Surprising and totally not, at the same time. And that it isn’t on the front page of the New York Times while the steroid report is makes my stomach turn. People should know what our government and it’s contractors are up to. Not that they care, obviously. But perhaps that’s because they don’t know about it. It’s a cycle, right?

Anyway, my good friend Pam sent me a link to that tidbit and I had to post it.

To me, it seems like finding a therapist that works for you is like finding a husband. You see a lot of creeps, losers and egomaniacs before you find one that is genuine.
I’m glad to hear that you’re making progress on your own. And thanks for sharing.

I don’t know if this had anything to do with it, but my first thought on hearing this story break on the same day as the steroids report was that someone close to the story knew it was about to break wide open so it was intentionally leaked on the same day as the steroids report to hide it in the news cycle.

That doesn’t excuse news organizations of giving the steroids report a greater prominence on that day.

(I’m behind on your posts) I remember listening to NPR this day and every time I turned it on (all at very different times throughout the day) baseball was all they had to talk about! Disgusting. I’m as big a sports fan as the next guy, but really, every hour?
