Things are going swimmingly

The first headline I saw on the NYTimes homepage this morning as I was savoring my IV caffeine drip first cup of coffee, was this over here. Did you see the accompanying photo? I’m sure it’s perfectly normal and fine and not in any meaningful way imapcting on the young boy to view that.

Then, scrolling down just a smidge, there was this bit of twee news.

And over there, just up and to the left of that last little ditty, was this reassuring statistic.

Somehow, my java doesn’t taste quite as delicious at the moment.

  • But I thought that the excessive rise in gas prices was because of supply/demand coupled with the skyrocketing cost of crude oil at $100 a barrel, AND not for oil industry profit?

aherm. Excuse me while I go try to stop my eyes from rolling around in their sockets because I was doing a lot of that while trying to say the above out loud. I also couldn’t say it with a straight face.

ack! There is nothing less appetizing or appealing that front page news. Stick with the arts section.

    Sigh.

Also, have Ruby call me. I know some very satisfying and alliterative swearing combinations. Oh the places I could take her.

  • Sandy Feet says:

    Holy Shit.

I hope more voters are connecting the dots.

Oh, Aaryn, I did read that article about using the women with Down’s Syndrome as suicide homicide bombers. After I stopped crying (everything is making me cry today, but there’s a valid one right there), I thought to myself that there is a very special place in hell for the sub-humans who thought that one up.

BTW, “suicide” up there was supposed to have a line through it. I either did the HTML incorrectly or it doesn’t work in WordPress like Blogger.

Have you seen how CNN is spinning the oil profits story? “Oh they NEED those profits because they need to refine and drill more… maybe even in the Arctic which is really expensive. This has nothing to do with the costs at the pump!” Yeah. Right.

Notice… they’re not pushing research on alternative energy. Also… I just saw an article that the oil companies are sponsoring a “Global Warming is a Lie” conference. Sorry… I can’t remember the details.

And these Mother F****** who started this war have so much blood on their hands. I’m constantly enraged about it. (Don’t let Ruby see this comment.)

I’m gonna go live in a van down by the river.

  • Yes — felt the same. Sorta hit in the gut with a commentary on the bombing on NPR this morning. It appears now that those two women were indeed mentally handicapped and the bombs ignited by remote cell. So the murderous cowards who killed school children (lots of ‘em) and two mentally disabled women were safely out of range.

    The insanity of war.

Strong opinion ahead: And anyone who thinks that corporate ideological and financial lust isn’t pretty much running the planet lives on a different one.

That was the first thing I saw when I opened our copy this am. Made me very sad to the point of tears. The story on the Vick dogs pushed me over the edge. :(
