"Its characters look like people I’ve met before..." HAH! try living up here in north county coastal... this is Every Woman here. And I too find myself looking in the mirror at the tiny lines, at the age spots and saying hmmm... I wonder if--

then I slap myself silly. I'm moving to Albuquerque this summer. Will be interesting to see how "women of a certain age" age there.

People have long blamed "the media" and "society" for the fact that young girls are obsessed with their bodies and their looks, and this seems to be happening at a younger age. I have no doubt that the media is saturated with such images and that this has an impact on these girls. Still, you can't deny that women who are themselves so obsessed with having giant boobs, a flat stomach, and wrinkle-free skin and are willing to undergo elective surgery to attain these things serve as tremendous role models for that sort of behavior from their daughters. This simply did not happen back in the days when we didn't have MILFs.

Don't get me wrong--I'm all for people making choices about how they want to improve their looks. I'm just saying that those who have children, especially daughters, need to take responsibilty for the fact that their choices have consequences for their children.

In other words, the idea of this book chaps my ass.
