Bush threatens a veto so the Dems capitulate? Again? With the excuse that public opinion favors off-shore drilling?!? Give me a break. “Public opinion” also favors creationism, so maybe our representatives in congress should take a step back from the ledge before relying too heavily on it as the barometer for decision making. I mean, what the fuck? How about studying the issue? How about looking at the facts? How about having a backbone? How about STANDING FOR SOMETHING?
I despise the Democrats only slightly less than I despise the Republicans.

I couldn’t agree more. I could never call myself a Democrat these days and have any self-respect. A liberal? Sure. A leftist, a progressive, but not a Democrat. I’m still reeling from their caving on the warrantless wiretapping. I’m fully expecting them to give the Bushies their icing on the cake before the administration ends with permission to drill in ANWAR.

Bloody hell. Why do we let any of these people run our country?

@Mark: I left the label of “Democrat” after the 2004 election. I’m right with you on this. And really, I’m only enthusiastic about Obama because the option is so deeply terrifying.
@bonzize: Yup. Watch it happen. They go through the posturing of being outraged and then overwhelmingly throw around the “yeas”. Fuckheads.
@Craig: Because we’re too comfortable. I say, let the market correct itself, let people loose their (our) jobs, let gas rise to $8 per gallon. Then, and only then, will the masses rise up and demand representation.

Yet another reason to crawl back in bed and pull the covers over my head.

My head exploded, too. No words.

You’re right Aaryn, though I honestly wonder if even that will make people realise what reality is *really* like. I mean, there are still LOTS of people who think that Georgie-poo is doing an AWESOME job and anything going wrong is the fault of anyone BUT His Illustrious Majesty King George II. And then the “honourable” opposition just lies down so daddy doesn’t yell at them. Spineless bastards.
Some days it is really difficult to be optimistic about this country.

I read that article, pinched myself, and hunted down another one just to make sure I wasn’t somehow hallucinating. But you know, I shouldn’t be surprised. After the wiretapping bull shit it sunk in that are perfectly willing to allow the current administration to continue its ass reaming of our country.
