I like the first point you made there, but I am not sure I could pratcially apply that in a postive way.

I loved this! I think she and her fashion choices are an inspiration. Some of those designers need to come down from on high and get a grip.

Hi, I found your site through Derfwad Manor, who my mom has linked to from her blog. I've been reading through your site here today, and I started to comment before, but decided it was better to just click away, but then changed my mind, and came back!

I just wanted to tell you how disappointed I am by your discourse on politics, specifically your comments on conservatives and Republicans. I doubt you care, but I had to say something. I came across a blog where the author is clearly intelligent, articulate, compassionate, and by every indication a great parent, and then I read you go off on such vitriolic, generalized, and inaccurate rants about groups of people.

I have no illusions that I will change your mind with a single comment on your blog, but maybe my note will you give you pause, and maybe that pause will lead to some deeper thought, and who knows where that could go. I am a biracial mother and libertarian who is at once deeply proud of her country for electing a black President, and deeply disappointed in the policies and actions of that President. While I do respect him as our country's leader, I do not support his agenda, his methods, or his rhetoric. It would seem that by reading your posts, that in your mind this makes me a backwards, ridiculous, stupid, indifferent person... oh, and possibly a bigot.

What's hurtful about this is not that I'm insulted (I'm not), but that there are so many people, so many women, who have these ideas so firmly planted in their minds that there is no dissuading them. There are intelligent, articulate, compassionate, great parents on the other side of the fence, and it's not good for any of us for you to use your blog as a tool for breeding these misconceptions, and for insulting huge swaths of people instead of supporting your disagreement with information. You can, of course, but the discourse suffers for it, as does our ability to learn from each other.

Well said, indeed.
Maybe I should photoshop Laura Bush's head onto Michelle Obama's body as she sits on the asphalt. And then we can discuss how much better Mrs. Bush looks...

The fashion industry can just go suck a big corn cob for being such incredible babies about this. I think Ms. Obama is making the right choice--HER choice--and given the sad nature of the economy right now, I can't believe they're whining about something like this. Also? If she caved to them you know the Republicans would be all over it in a second...touting her extravagance and predicting the end of the world as we know it. Personally, I'm surprised they haven't held some of those stupid Tea Parties to protest the fact that she wears sleeveless on occasion. Well said!

Perhaps if the First Lady sticks with her current choices, the "elite" designers will come to realize that their clothes and their price tags are passe. They are the ones who need to get real - the First Lady already is.

Huffington Post has a whole slideshow of Obama's recycled clothes, showing how she wears them again and again. I LOVE her for it. Among other things.

Also, if you haven't seen the video of the new puppy, you should check it out. Michelle sits her ass right down on the pavement with the dog. It's AWESOME. Imagine Laura Bush sitting on asphalt. Imagine it. You can't can you? Or, if you can, it looks very stiff and uncomfortable, doesn't it?

Michelle Obama is amazing.
