Wow: The appearance of a nascent spine

And the DNC slams the hammer down squarely on the head of the nail:

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists — the Taliban and Hamas this morning — in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize. Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize — an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride — unless of course you are the Republican Party. The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim.” -DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse.

It’s true. Republicans hate America:

Oh, MAYBELLINE. You are either the most obtuse person I’ve never met or you are the most pathetic (or both?), spewing your little passive-aggressive non-sentiments around the interenet and then rolling out your eyelash-batting, finger-twisting-in-your-dimple, I-have-no-idea-what-you’re-talking-about innocence. My father-in-law has always warned me about people who believe their own bullshit and you, my sad and lonely friend, exemplify the accuracy of his wisdom.

FYI: This video is what is referred to as a compilation of vignettes, representative of things those on your side of the aisle are saying about our country and it’s leader right now. Editing may have been used to splice together the different segments but it is not editing that created the message. Republicans *really did cheer* when Chicago was denied the Olympics (rooting against America). Republicans *really are outraged*—just as terrorist organizations are outraged—that the Nobel Peace Prize went to Barack Obama (rooting against an American President). All this from the same group of folks who, two and four and six and eight years ago, pointed their fingers and yelled “TERRORIST SYMPATHIZER” at anyone who even politely criticized the last president. Hypocrisy, I think, is what this video highlights and if you think the message is anything other than anti-American then you are lying to yourself.

But hey, girl. Denial sort of suits you. God forbid you should ever actually have to engage in any kind of deep or methodical or complicated thought process or meaningful discussion. If you did that, you’d have to evolve and it seems that knuckle-dragging is more your style.

Wow. I didn’t realize where you are in your cycle. Hope you feel better.

Not only do you reveal yourself to be the lowest kind of woman, a woman-hater (it’s pretty old-fashioned to blame another woman’s intellect or passion or mood or wit on her period) but in a mere 14 words, you perfectly underscore, highlight and italicize my original assessment. Boy, do I ever have your number.

MAYBELLINE: Go. Away. Go back to Bakersfield.com where you can snicker and fret without retribution about “illegal aliens” and the babies they have out of wedlock (gasp!), where you can mingle with other like-minded trolls and stew together in the toxic cauldron of your smallness.

Aaryn: I love you. Do you mind if I borrow that “toxic cauldron of your smallness” phrase? It sums up certain people so perfectly.

You are the coolest (re: responses to Maybewhatserface)

And why oh why do I continue to be shocked at the behavior of these folks? hateful, spiteful, poisonous assholes.

Hateful, spiteful, poisonous assholes?!
Such an example of love and tolerance, kerryanne.
The 1st comment posted was fairly bland to start such strong reactions. Maybe it’s in the video presentation.

@Wehaf and kerryanne: Thank you! I hated to have to do it but it was time.

@justreading: kerryanne’s comment was directed at the people in the video and she is absolutely right: They are hateful, spiteful, poisonous assholes. Oh, and hypocrites, too.

As for the initial comment, it may seem bland if you haven’t been reading this website or The Women’s Colony. MAYBELLINE is a troll who doesn’t ever add to a conversation. I’m done with her. But she will play to your sympathies if you give them to her.

Coming late to the party (and I must say you throw some good ones).

Was it really just 12 short months ago that not supporting the president was being touted as treason by most of these same people? That saying mean things about the president was unpatriotic and un-American?

I realize that hypocrisy lands on both sides of the aisle — but, really, don’t those comments (especially about the Olympics) just seem childish? What’s next? A round of “yo momma’s so fat”?

haha
i just now read all the comments above mine, and it makes the silliness within mine even sillier.
time out for nonsense.

Hi Aaryn! I love your writing, and hence, I’m here. You’re very talented and passionate, and I admire that about you.
I do have one tiny comment, though. I kind of-maybe-probably-just a little bit- felt that Obama hasn’t really done much (yet) to deserve the Nobel Prize. I admire some things about him, and I do like him. It’s just that to put him at the same level of Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa and Martin Luther King… well, I feel like it was much too soon to award him such a great honor. Even Gandhi wasn’t given a Nobel Peace Prize. Gandhi!
Please don’t hate me :( And, I’m definitely not a Republican. I’m not even an American, for that matter. Just a gal who most of the time agrees with you, sometimes disagrees, but loves your writing nonetheless.
